Today is a special day in the life of a fig hobbyist. This is my first Genovese Nero. The real thing, not a fake. Yes, it split a little (splitsville here on the East Coast unfortunately). Yes, it is greenhouse finished. Yes, it is not as dark as it could be. But it was luscious, juicy and mellow. Many thanks to my good friend who made it happen for me.

I put it in the greenhouse a couple of weeks ago, but I have only used the heater a couple of times, its been generally warm here although, as you are aware, it is turning frigid here on saturday. I expect the others to ripen but as of now they are not swelling.
