Below are pictures of my first main crop fig of the season. To me it's a very special fig. It came off of my Dad's tree that originated in Houma, then via cuttings went to Tennessee to my brothers, and now back to Houma. Dad's original trees were destroyed by ice and a hurricane. It was very good, ripe and sweet with a real deep fig flavor. Too bad I only had one to share with Linda. The trees has about 10 or 12 still on it, I hope they all ripen.
Hi Generipe main figs already ? wow !I said to myself that looks like a classic celeste photo and then saw your post on other forum and you mentioned it is a celeste. Also saw your post and the nice pictures of your trip and thanks for all the pictures posted there nice to look at.
Thanks Martin, I didn't realize that I left out the word "Celeste". I have another in ground Celeste, the one that I posted the breba off of, that's also had a ripe fig but all I found is the skin as the birds got the rest. Several more are ready to ripen, they are turning dark and getting soft. Probably in a few days I'll get to taste those. I must remember to wrap the tomorrow to hid them from the birds."gene"
