First Mead fig

I grew this tree from a cutting I got from Mescalito, thanks Mike. It's an unknown to him that he got cuttings off of his aunt's tree and named it after her. I think she got it from the homeland. However it got here is important especially to him and I'll get the story straight before I share any cuttings. We all like to know our tree's pedigree if possible. I started this tree in the spring and it's in a 3 gallon pot growing nicely. This is the only fig that will ripen although there are a couple of other small ones. It's a beautiful colored fig with a nice deep colored pulp but the most important thing for me in South La. is the fact that it's eye is small and is blocked by the flesh. The taste was very good but I think I let it stay on the tree a day or two too long. It tasted like it was just going over the hill. Will it bear this late normally remains to be seen, but it would be nice to have a late bearing tree to ripen in our dry late season weather. Hopefully next year will bring a bunch of fig to better evaluate them. I already looking forward to them. Enough words, here are a couple of pictures.

Nice looking fig--I hope it does well for you!

I would Love to Eat that fig !!!
