First negronne fig

Hi
I just picked and tasted my first negronne. It tasted so good. I got the tree from edible landscaping. The fig was ver big (37 grams). There's about 20 more to ripe. So far negronne tasted better than RDB as of now but RDB needs to mature more.

Welcome!  It looks good.  Try to remember what it looked like before you picked it.  To me it's a bit early.  The white part of the fig in the cut view is fairly opaque.  As it ripens that turns translucent and thins.  The fig should hang loosely from the branch.  You may have to protect it from critters.

Same for your RdB   :)  They'll taste even better!

thank you for the tip. ill keep that in mind. I was getting very anxious to pick it. Since its my first figs I ever picked I wasn't quite sure whether it was fully ripe. Next fig I will make sure it gets fully ripe.

Out of all my figs, all of my Negronne have the worst case of FMV, does anyone else have this this problem w/ Negronne?

my problem with negronne is everyone saying it's the same as VDB.  One thing about Negronne is even when super ripe to the point of damn near drying, the figs still have that same ring of white just under the skin as yours does at most it will turn an off white/yellow. However VDB's white ring tends to be stained red and sometime the figs are filled with pulp to the skin like a ripe RDB with no white. There are other differences too like VDB has giant finger type leaves sometimes 10- 12 inches long whereas Negronne has the normal  7-9 inch finger type leaves. Same shape just a different size. I encourage you and everyone else that collects figs to get both.
