First Post and First Fig!

Welcome to the forum.  Most of us have zone envy.

Sorry for the late response Dust. I couldn't keep up with everyone's welcome aboard! The only fertilizer I've used on my plants is Micro Life 6-2-4 except for citrus. They get some of it to but I also feed them Chem ferts. Every thing else is Micro Life.

Thanks Bob! No need to be envious. I have my own problems to deal with hear. Namely bugs, mold, high humidity, hurricanes and worst of all I can't grow cherries!!!!!

Hello Robert.

I lived off Bissonnet years ago. I would travel to Sugarland at 5:00 a. m. to swim before work. Nice time, but I came home and do not miss the heat and humidity. I know there are figs all over the city in backyards, mostly ignored. You could have fun finding unknowns.

Hey Dale,

Yes, the heat and humidity can get oppressive here but Im like a salamander and have to have the humidity. Every time I go up to northwest texas where its dry I get all kinds of sinus issues. As soon as I get back home it goes away. Not to mention Ive got salt water running through my veins and dont think I will ever leave the coast. Ever!!! The worst thing about Htown is the traffic.

I have seen losts of fig trees in peoples yards here and Im going to have to go knock on some doors soon. I have a feeling most people will not know what varieties they have. Most people here seem to move at least once every 10 years or so. Ive got 2 huge fig trees in my neighbor hood that dont look like they have ever been prunned so I imagine who ever lives there hasnt the slightest idea what kind of fig it is. Who knows! I may come across a jewel right?

The thrill of discovery!
