First Unknown Calderwood 2015

All the cuttings I received from Justin (plazzophoto) in early February 2015 rooted quickly and put on strong growth early.

Because of this I have been eagerly anticipating tasting its figs.  I have one in ground and many in pots.  Calderwood has put on the most figlets of any other tree I have (except 2 year old vista).

Only problem is the vast majority of the figlets have all been within the last 3 weeks, so I have been pinching them off.

Today I got my first ripeish one from an earlier set, I really wished I would have written down when I first noticed it. I'm guessing late July.

I don't think this is anywhere near its normal ripening time, it is after all a young tree.

This fig I thought was ready, well I was ready, but could have gone another day or 2.

Taste: Awesome, slight unknown berry, surprisingly rich, a solid 7.5, which in my opinion is a good rating for a first fig on a 7 month old tree. As good as my HC, and Takoma Violet so far.

Looks good Don.  Mine put on a bunch of figlets but they were pinched off - too late in season for me.   Looking forward to tasting mine next season and comparing it to my LSU Tiger, which is the same age.  (leaves look same so far)

I don't have Tiger, but I agree from what I have seen of it, Calderwood does closely resemble it.

Are your leaves predominately single and three lobed?  My in ground is just recently getting some 5 finger lobes.

Mine are mostly spade leaves with a few 3 lobes on Unk Calderwood

Mine are all in pots, with mostly large, single lobed leaves and a few three lobed leaves.  Pretty robust growth, probably the tallest of the cuttings I started last February.  And lots of little figs, too.  Might actually get to taste one this year, and I am looking forward to that!

Don i have a few tigers and thats wgat they look like. Big leaves mostly three lobed and single lobed. Some 5 lobed but very few. Your tree looks good and healthy. No rust.

Beautiful foliage, pretty fig.
