Just spoke to Nelson. It's actually a great story. His two young boys decided to propigate figs as a way to earn some spending money. Sounds like a worthy cause to me!
The dark is an unknown and was in the backyard when they bought the house from an italian family. He's allegedly tried to have it looked at to determine the cultivar but multiple people have told him that it is not like any named cultivar that they've seen.

The light comes from a community garden(he thought it was a named cultivar but wasnt sure). 

Both mother trees are uncovered in winter.

Im going to get 2 dark trees. 1 is going in ground and the other will serve as its back-up. I feel like i have too many light figs for such a start-up collection. Will post pictures when I get the trees tomorrow and commute home.
