floating fabric to protect trees from frosting

appears to work for figs...
may be a quick solution for emergencies w no time to bring the big tree to a shelter.

UPDATE.

the link does not work.... it was a very cool picture of kiwi and figs and others wraped in white fabric.... the kiwi did not make, but the figs look great, wonder why they pulled it out... so, I deleted the link also.

leaving the post, as other info is added that can be as reference.

The link says it is not available anymore.  I have used argobon floating row covers before in spring frosts on figs with good success, if the fabric touches the leaves, it can still get burnt though.  The other leaves started to get stunt from repeated cold spells but only lost a couple small leaves here and there so it works for light frosts, even down to -1 celcius for a couple hours but I wouldn't do it again just because it sets the trees back a bit.

Agribon fabric is available lots of places (even on amazon).

But I've used regular old cotton sheets, and old shower curtains too.  It seemed to work (though the frost wasn't too severe... but was severe enough that it killed off leaves on uncovered trees).
