Florea?

I've heard a lot about this fig, mostly about the cold hardiness. Is it cold hardy to zone 6a? Hows the fruit and ripening? How does it compare to Marseilles Black VS? Where to get cuttings?

I bought a couple plants from driveway farmer. If he does not have anything now, I'm sure he will later

I would love to have some. Shipping for a good size plant is expensive

here are some sellers
marius aka - mnedelcu
or kerry aka driverfarmer

Very slight correction, Kerry is drivewayfarmer http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/profile/1311725
I just got my Florea from him...very nice plant, thanks Kerry!

If anyone in Canada has it I would be interested in trading for some cuttings this fall. :)

Thank you guys! Now I heard that Florea is diffrent from other fig trees because normal fig trees have a soft hardwood. But the Florea has a hard, woody hardwood. If this is true it must be really hardy.Mabey all the way to zone 5. I hope this is true. If it is then the Florea must be the hardiest fig tree of them all. Still, does anyone know the taste and when it ripens?

I had a bunch of Florea last year and they all rooted for me. In fact they were the strongest rooters for me last year and even sent some to Iceland. Many are in 3 gallon pots this year trying to put on main crop but I'm flicking off of half of them. Very strong plant from what I've experienced so far, a real winner.

Also think of Nordland when you think of hardy figs.

I've reached out to a few via PM to get my hands on a Florea but would love to try a Nordland also. Bob any idea where I can get one? thanks

Fall is your best time to get cuttings.  First thing to do is email Jon and ask if he has any plants for sale.

Is Nordland that hardy? Whats the history on it? It seems like more and more cold hardy cultivars are coming out

There's one on eBay right now

The one on ebay is going to go high. And also I'm leaving for a month tommarow so I can't buy it

Raintree nursery list's a fig called Nordland.

The Florea figs(from mnedelcu, 2012,) grows like Brussels sprouts:-)
