Florea fig earliness, pix, andDesert King Breba Pix

Here is what my friend Jon from Beverly NJ,brought to me today.
He said his Florea fig,is giving him plenty of main crop, since 2 weeks ago.
Also my Desert King breba this year, taken 3 days ago.
I would like to find out if anybody else have ripe main crop figs now in zone 6-7 on east coast, and what variety.
It seems like Florea fig got first ripe main crop on 15th.of July.!!!!
Out here in my at least 40 cultivars able to have fruits, none have any main crop ripe at this time.
On the contrary they look like will take another 2 ,3 weeks from now till they will have ripe fruits.
Like to hear from you

See pics in "Help Identify Please" thread. My unidentified tree now has 30-40 main crop figs growing. The largest are only 1/2" in diameter at his time. I'm in Northern NJ. I pinched the terminal buds to induce fruiting around 2-3 weeks ago and pinched again yesterday. I'm hoping this will help put energy into growing and maturing the fruit.

Very Well , done,I pinched my trees yesterday again too.
It will positivelly help your tree.
But your tree does not have ripe fruits (main ) now does it?
By the way:at this date August 1,is time to thin the tree.
I am going to eliminate any branch that have no grown figs on it at this time on my older trees.
This is another procedure that will help my trees get ripe sooner, and more completelly.
I have done it last year and it works.
Best Regards

Hi again Herman.
I was wondering about doing a little pruning. There are a few branches without fruit (none ripe yet, still very small in size) and I wanted to both thin out the tree and get some cuttings going. I feel better that you were sucessful with this - so I will do this over the weekend. Is there any concern at doing this so soon after pinching due to additional bleeding? There is no evidence of dehydration, so I'm inclined to think it is OK.

Bleeding does not hurt the tree at all.

hello Herman
first off nice figs!
i have a few?, does your friend cover his tree for the winter, how big and old is this tree?
that is truly early fig for main crop!
do you know the origins of this tree and does it go by any other names?
i would be Very interested in acquiring a specimen/cuttings from this tree.

Florea is a bad choice for rainy area as it have an open eye that sours,if left too long on the tree.
The taste was just as good in Europe but inferior to Desert King here in New Jersey.

His Fig is 9 years old and it was never protected nor died,or had winter damage.

It grows slow, and is now 7 foot tall and 10 foot wide.
It originated in Former Yugoslavia.
