I have a container thats about 10 months old. When i shake it it sounds like rocks are on he bottom. Is this just the minerals clumping up? i shake it up and use a pipette to take from the top. Am i going to run into mineral deficiencies?

With insoluble materials in the bottom the liquid you pull out will certainly not have the same concentrations of components as the original. How much different this would make is anyone's guess. I shake mine up too but have only seen some tiny granules that readily dissolve once I dilute it into water.

They do seem to breakup a bit when shaking. It sounds and feels like good size chunks. I'll give it a good mixing before i use.

Yeap, same here, rocks at the bottom. I store mine outside and maybe they appear because of the temperature changes. My outside temp range is 40-110 over a year, no frost.

Yeah, you might be able to get the chunks to dissolve if you immersed the bottle in warm/hot water in the sink for an hour so and shake the bottle every so often.

This is only slightly off topic... If you also use Pro-Tekt, always dilute it in water before adding any other fertilizer.

You know what, since my Foliage Pro started needing intense shaking, started after the weather got cold, that my cuttings have some yellowing faint off coloring.

I used some today and shook the crap out of it for a few min. It re-dissolved nicely. Thanks for the reminder about the Pro-tekt James. I do use that as well although not as often. The 2 step mixing process is kinda annoying and my pipette gets all gunky.

Right, except it would be difficult to mix 4 gallons + 2 tsp in a 4 gallon bucket without spilling. :)

If I remember correctly, the Calcium precipitates if the pH of whatever you are pouring the PT concentrate into is too high. By diluting the PT first, you eliminate most of the risk. It seems to be a finicky product. I've bought a jug of concentrate which had already precipitated, and I suppose certain water supplies (especially well water) could be problematic. Last year, the local hydroponics shop gave me a sample of another silica product and I had no issues with precipitation at all (except for the concentrate that stayed on the measuring spoon). I'd love to be able to tell you it was better or worse than PT, but I still don't know how to tell if any of this stuff really works.
