"For Snaglpus"

Hi Dennis ,
the tree is in 7th season. Here i post some pictures of tanglefoot on tree.

this picture is tanglefoot on tree from 2008 the ring i can scrape of if i choose no harm i leave it as it will just wear off in time. No longer sticky.

here is picture same tree HC with 2 rings the one below mess i made when apllying with tube instead of plastic thing i cut which makes it go on nice and thin thats all is needed actually.

This is an American Elm i bought some years back its disease resistant to the dutch elm disease i bought back some years ago , it was propagated from a american elm back east around princeton univerisity and still standing unharmed while others succumb to the disease in area. Here in the 60s where i grew up they were the dominant street tree with a huge canopy that would meet with the ones across the street very nice looking back then the streets. I remember then when the town trucks came and cut everyone down because of disease it was sad at the time. Anyways the ants love this tree as well so i put tanglefoot on it as well. The bark cracks has nothing to do with the tanglefoot thats just the trunk starting to age and will look much different when tree is mature as i remember the trunks well i use to climb these trees back then .  ; )

In regards to your crawling bug , gee i really dont know Dennis, we get small black ants, large type black ants, small red ants that bite and are a pain,i was sitting on cement step a few seasons back in shorts and sandals and all of sudden they were on my feet biteing darn things. I found a little pile of fine dirt out front near porch and went in garage and poured a bunch of gasoline on it, also what seems like lots of different looking spiders we get too here is one that freaked out the Misses right outside our pation door on the sideing.
She said "Marty come kill this thing" so i went over there with small plastic pot and got him inside and walked to back of yard and let him crawl out. She goes why didn't you kill it and i replied "aww c'mon babe its harmless" which was a big fat fib as i had no idea what type it is.

thanks Martin.  Your fig tree looks very well and straight!  Last Fall, I rolled about 12 of my containter trees inside my garage for winter.  Four were in containers like yours.  And I did test and left my Peter's Honey, and Italian Honey outside without protection. Both died to ground but came back and are now taller than me and I'm 6' 2"!   Both are loaded with figs.  Come early winter, I plan on planting them in the ground.

I never have ant problems with these 2 trees, i guess because of their tight eye.  Both trees produced a lot of figs but the taste was not that good.  I am hoping by planting it in the ground, the taste will improve.  Like you, I do have spiders including Writing Spiders.  These guys can get very large and scares the dickens out of my wife.  Their web is so large and the spider always sits in the middle.  You have to watch were you're going or you will walk in the middle of the web and get biten.  Every day I have to look for those guys.  Four squirt of bug spray kills them dead!  Thanks for the pictures, I think your tree is fine from the TFoot.  Cheers!
