Nice figs Mario. What kind are they?

yes mario - would love to know what are the dark varieties?

hold your cursor over the photos, the info is displayed.
hardy chicago and colasanti white

Hey Mario how did the colasanti white taste this season? The colasanti figs are some of the most vigorous grower's I have ever seen and become rootbound in no time.

This year I met a sicilan fellow who was growin a Ficazzana that his father brought in the early 90's from Sciacca, Sicily he also had purchased the Dark & white figs from colasanti farms turns out the colasanti white & Sicilian ficazzana are the same fig. He gave me a small Scilian Ficazzana for me to see myself but based on leaf shape I would say they are indeed the same.

They did vary good this year Nelson
i have it inground in the greenhouse and it just flushed with fruit they weer vary juicy and sweet
the problem I've been having is with Ants they are nasty little things they can ruin alot of fruit just as they are ready
Are you renaming your Colasanti to Ficazana maybe you should wait till you see the fruit it might be a little different

Hey Nelson your Colasanti Dark is it a small fig the tree I have only put out two figs and they are tiny the white are huge

Hey Mario, nope not renaming anything yet time will tell if they are the same if so then it will be colasanti ficazzana.

The Colasanti Dark is about the same size as a hardy chicago more or less much much smaller than the colasanti white.

The ants this year have eaten more figs than me, my Inground Paradiso Nero I only ate 5-6 figs so far everything else was getting eaten by ants & Squirls next year will have to use tanglefoot or something like that to keep the ants out.

I'm most envious of the sunshine in your last picture. We haven't seen the sun in my part of VA for over a week now with all the ran and overcast skies we've been getting...
