Forgotten figs in bags

I was busy transfering figs from cups to 1 gallon containers today when I discovered a zipper bag with moist paper towels and 6 Celeste figs wrapped.  It was in a tool cabinet and I put them there about 3 weeks ago just before I had to go out of town on business.

Well, needless to day they all had roots, albeit more brown that white.  There was no mold or anything and other than the roots beign a tan to brown color, looked fine.  I soaked them in a bit very diluted Thrive mixture for about 30 seconds and transfer them to cups with my normal mix.  There was just a couple of very small buds starting to swell so I put a dome on them and into the rubber made tote they went.

Has anybody else experienced this?  Were they able to recover.  I have several others of this variety so it is not huge loss but I did not want to throw them out.  I did trim one on the top and it was still very green and alive.

i have habit of ignoring things.. so i tend to make sure things are right there where i can see them everyday. even than, i might just ignore it..

If you cut them and they're green they should do fine.  I never put a plant with roots in a humidity dome.  If you water it the leaves will get what they need and they'll form without the need for extra humidity.

Bob,  guess I was not clear...there were no leaves at all.  One or swollen buds but that may have been more my imagination.  The cutting was still alive (at least the one I trimmed the crooked top on).  I just put them in cups.  I put the dome on it so I don't have to check the moisture every couple of days.  I have not had a mold problem and not gnats either.  I use UPM and coarse perlite (40/60 ratio) with just enough water to enable the mix to clump in my hand before falling apart.

You were clear that there were no leaves.

Bob,
I am going to give them a couple of weeks and see what happens.  I get too closed to my "children", especially after they have put out roots.  They did their part...I was lax on mine.

Good luck with them!  There's lots of ways to get good plants.   :)
