I too, discovered fresh figs at a little fruit stand down the road. They were shipped in from the west coast. The owner asked if I wanted them all! Two flats, twenty-seven each. I took one flat of Mission figs and noticed that they were not quite dead ripe. I am hoping that another day or two will get them there. Meanwhile, the furious search is on for mascarpone, walnuts, prosciutto, chevre, etc. Maybe not the best way to get fresh figs, but better than nothing?
