Free Variety of Cuttings Contest

First one to tell me the name of this beast wins these freshly cut dormant cuttings.

1 Purple Havasu
1 Violette de Bordeaux
1 Carini
1 Long d'Aout

These are all terminal end cuttings, the first 3 have never shown any signs of FMV. The LdA cutting is sort of small but big enough to root, the LdA does have some FMV.

Actually a moth.

Funny Dave.
I saw this guy this summer and I thought I was the luckiest person ever for seeing one of natures best camouflage masters. A moth that looks like a wasp. Later that evening I googled it and realized I had my enemy in my hand and let her go. I was out there every day and night for a month poking around in my blackberry bushes. I killed 2. The thing is, there are yellow jackets hanging around just the same, so one has to be careful.

Before I dug out my blackberries 30 feet of em and 20 foot of raspberries to make room for my now established fig hedge. Every spring I could count on thousands of honey bees for polination as there are 3 bee keepers within five miles. You could stand out in a cyclone of bees buzzing in every direction. Never was I stung but there were so many you could hear very well the hum of their wings. I had seen one of those moths, I think. It looked like somthing I didn't want to mess with so I didn't. ;-)

I'm now questioning the common identity of Pennisetia marginata. This is the Wikipedia photo.

I'm curious if there are multiple subspecies or if there is some sort of dimorphism going on, because while every science and government chart has them with the black end, the one in the image posted has a yellow end (as do some images posted to the identification). Also some differing features. Could be some sort of hybrid, or maybe even a pure mix up of two different bugs. It's interesting. I've noticed Sesia seem to have the yellow end more commonly.

Here's Sesia tibialis.

Sesia apiformis.

It's definitely showing the behavior, though. I mean, the image is of the thing on a raspberry bush.
