Sure put some in plastic bag #1 and a few Pastilierie cuttings in bag# 2 and send them both next day delivery.

It's supposed to got down to 30 tonight. Good thing I didn't put my tomatoes in early this year.

They are saying a low of 26 degrees here in Rockville - crazy.  My asian pears are blooming for the first time.  I'm not sure if I would get any fruit anyway but I guess I should look into covering them somehow to have any hope of that.  I put out some tiny spinach and lettuce transplants over the weekend.  They should be ok shouldn't they?

Whew, just ran around in the rain doing what can be done to protect everyone! Put straw on the veggies (surprised to see asparagus came up since yesterday!), heaped mulch on tender perennial growth and canefruits, and shuffled the figs and strawberry pots in for the next few days.

Now we're forecast to go down to 24 degrees tonight and 27 tomorrow night.

I sure hope my blueberry, pear, and apple flower buds survive...looks like it might be close. If anyone wants to know if their flower buds will make it here's a nice chart from MSU: http://www.hrt.msu.edu/faculty/langg/Fruit_Bud_Hardiness.html

Kelby,

That chart is very helpful. I am growing apples and Asian pears for the first time. Never knew there were nine stages of development. Thanks again,

Steve

Glad someone else found it useful!

i'm still thinking about moving them in. it looks like it won't be much of an issue since it will be at 32 for maybe on hour with the sun up. if only i can get off my backside... i'll take a nap and think about it more.

I'll throw a bucket over my tomatoes and bell peppers.
They have got a good head start in ground.

Dang weather.

Doug

Winds have been brutal today.  Whipping and bending one of my young plants, had to get it in fast.

My brand new, just recently purchased, 4 ft. "Black Mission" ....that's now full of small, just-sprouted, tender leaves.... will once again be living in my kitchen, until our "global warming" becomes "global warming".

All outdoor figs safe in the garage

It won't stick tonight because of the temperature but they are predicting snow here for a couple hours. Maybe frost for the next night or two. The daytime temps will be in the 60's.

Pastiliere makes beautiful tree.... will find out if it will makes beautiful fig here. USDA/UCD Pastiliere all died (i sort of left them out all winter since they were runts). but ones from baud is doing amazing.

I put everything in I could carry. I have 4 trees in Bills Figs SIPs and they are just too much of a deal to put away. I just planted a Kathleen Black I got from Kerry and a Negronne from Bill along with 2 Dominicks from previous years. I will keep my faith in the big container guys and pray. Glad I put them in even if it doesn't freeze. Way too much rain here in Northern NJ

I don't think it will get below freezing here in Fair Lawn... My big SIPs from Bill are on rollers.
Next year I will have 20-30 #5's... I will have to be careful so I don't take them ou too early

Light dusting of snow on the cars here but temp is 34.

If I put them out before I leave it might still be to cold for them. I might just leave them in the garage today and see about tomorrow

I just checked everything outside. Everything looks fine. The burlap I wrapped around the cages was filled with ice but the plants within are green.

I'm glad I did the Fig-shuffle last night they were all breaking buds and also my dwarf peach tree. almost broke my back, they are extremely heavy when the pots have been sitting in the rain all day. :/  They are now warm in  my garage, waiting for a few days and out they go again.

Our garage low last night was 39F. It sunny now with a high of 50 I think Ill put the figs back out tomorrow morning for the day

If it's above 34 tomorrow then I'll pull them out. Supposed to be really nice this weekend
