A few months ago my attempt to find Black Madeira and RdB was slim. Yesterday, I received wonderful news from a member and said he was willing to give me one cutting from his Madeira and one cutting from RdB as a gift. He also noted:

"They are leaves already, but maybe it is not to late to root them"

In writing this sounds really hopeful...

As far as Madeira is concerned, I have no clue, all I know is that Madeira takes a long time [I was thinking about burying the whole cuttings: Madeira and RdB in Top soil and cow manure].

Crap, now that these cuttings are on their way I want make sure they live. I want these cuttings to survive not die on me after waiting for sooo long!

Variety: Madeira               Ronda De Bordeaux
difficulty: HARD                 Shove it in the ground??-lol

Jennifer,

Consider yourself very lucky.
Congrats!

Hope you will get them to grow and bare fruit for a lifetime!

Good luck

Good luck.  Wish I had asked for them myself, lol.

There are many existing threads here about rooting cuttings that contain information that might help you. Let 'search' be your friend. :)

Cow manure may not be your best bet.

I can't find the video but for green cuttings the recomendation I've seen is make a fresh cut, dip the end in rooting hormone or willow leaves chopped in water, then put the cutting in a pot with well draining soil with only the top sticking out.  (no leaves on stem).  Water the pot and cover the top with a plastic cup or bottle and leave it outside in the shade as long as it doesn't get under 50 at night.

Rcanter: the top sticking out? Bury it vertical, how many nodes? I have rooting hormone. I will check thanks for the link

i asked the same question.. root hormones. was told figs don't need them. when you are rooting the cuttings, make sure they are clean and keep it moist and warm. around 75-80 degree at 70% humidity or higher worked best for me.

pete

any one ever here of using honey to root cuttings ???

Rooting hormone did nothing to help Madeira, for me.

People don't use rooting hormones on dormant cuttings but this is a green, growing cutting.  Planting it vertical is recommended.  I looked for the video but couldn't find it.
