Hey guysLast year was my first year for inground figs. We had a few nights where it went down to 11 or 12 degrees. My protection consisted of about 1 1/2 foot of pine straw around the base and on the cold nights I would wrap it in burlap and put a tarp around that. These were 2nd year trees. The 1st year was spent in 3 gallon bucket. When I put them in the ground they grew like weeds and when it turned cold their was a lot of green wood still. None of that made it thru the winter. This year I found this stuff. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HZ6CI6A/ref=twister_B01MQCU83Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1It was an excellent price and being bags I hope a lot easier to put on. They just came and I opened one and unfolded it. I got the 120x120. It should cover anything I will ever have with room to spare. And amazingly it seemed to be the cheapest size at $10.31.Just wanted to point it out incase someone wants to try it.
Thanks this is just what the dr. ordered for the inevitable upcoming frosty nights!Need to find a source for this in Canada or make up my own tent with some poly.

Yours are prettier than mine.
I started using carpet underlayment and contractor bags last year. Takes about 2 min to wrap a tree. http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/how-to-wrap-a-fig-tree-jersey-style-8325787?pid=1295318534
Hi,You should use stakes to keep it above the tree. Don't put that directly over your figtree. Here with the weight of the snow and/or wind, it would all crumble to the floor . It would break the branches of the tree in the process.
