Fruit bearing fig growing on the beach

Greetings from Holland!
Untitled-1.jpg
My very first entry on this forum (that I visit often as a starting fig-enthusiast). Thank you all for the wonderful advise!
Last summer I spent my holidays at the Portuguese Atlantic coast (Algarve). I post this picture to illustrate how tough figs are: this fig (see arrow) was growing practical ON the beach AND bearing fruit!
I took a cutting home and it rooted well!

Regards!
Rob

Welcome to the forum Rob.

Very cool picture showing how tough figs are. The best looking figs i have seen growing here in Hawaii, were also near the ocean, just 100 meters from the water.

Hey, that's a great fig!!!  Nice job on the cuttings!  Please post pictures when you can.  And, please post some closeups of the leaves!

Welcome to the forum Rob
Nice picture!
Did you taste the figs ?

welcome

will be interesting to see how this fig does for you.

I was not able to taste the figs, the only ones left were high up in the tree andthey did not look ripe to me, anyway. I did not take pictures of the leaves but remember they were rather brown and dry. I will take a picture from the new leaves on my rooted cutting in spring.
I try to take fig cutting every holiday i spend in the south of Europe. They make nice living souvenirs!

Great stuff, keep up posted on your cutting when it produces for you.  We love to hear about new-found treasures.
