Fruit drop

Does anyone have a good theory as to what causes fruit drop??
Thanks
Bill

Bad genes:
It is got cauducous caprifig genes.
Common figs are female crosses of Common female with persistent caprifig.
Any time a Cauducous caprifig was used for pollination ,the offspring has more or less the dropping gene, and will drop some fruits, if not all of them if not pollinated.

I know other fruit trees will self abort to a certain extent. I am uncertain, but that might be at play with figs too. If too much fruit is set for the tree to sustain, somehow there is a self abort reaction to a percentage and they drop. I see it every year with my apple tree
