Fruitiers.net : The exchange market of cuttings in Europe

I just wanted to share a little secret with everyone. If you already speak French and you are into figs you probably already know about this site.

Otherwise, most of you might not be into French but with the wonders of technology and automated translation software such as translate.google.com  and babelfish.yahoo.com new doors can be opened!

Basically, fruitiers.net is an exchange market in which everyone can exchange cuttings and different types of plants. There is a good section dedicated to figs and what makes this web site interesting is the availability of varieties that are impossible to find in North America. All you need to do is list varieties you have that you are willing to offer for free. The basic rule is that you cannot ask for money. You can obviously ask for a payment of shipping fees.

This might sound like plenty of trouble of using translation software to access a French web site. However, as I have pointed this is worth the trouble if you want to get your hands on varieties that are sometimes not even listed in the f4f variety section.

If anyone has questions let me know!

(If you are in Canada or the U.S. you should request a phytosanitary certificate otherwise you might be breaking the law)

Xon2000 have updated his website on Catalan figs with more pictures. Nice pictures Xon. He has a section under references to "Greffer.Net" and that will also bring  one to the same website highlighted by Montreal Fig.

Xon2000 web site is very nice and I have been in communication with him...
What I most like is the photos on his web site.
