ok, i'm a newbie too. but i'm not leaving them out there for good. the idea was to water them more than anything else. since it's nice and sunny, i let them out there for couple of hours.
now if i was going to put them out there for good, i wouldn't leave 'em out in direct sunlight like that for any length of time. if i do, it will burn the leaves since the leaves have not had time to adjust to the full sunlight. my front porch faces south. during spring to fall, i get partial sun on that area, so the new 1 gal containers will get about 2-3 hr in the morning and another 2-3 hr in the evening. it's perfect place for the new growing 1 gal containers to be at. even then i get some sun burn. however, the new leaves that comes out under that condition will be hardened off quicker and will adjust to that environment.
the main reason why i decided to water the cups today was due to two signs. one, the peat pots were turning light. that means the water is low. but more telling sign was, leaves were acting like it's not getting enough water. some were drooping and some where folding up.
