Question,I have bought but never SOLD on ebay. I have numerous extra plants I want to get rid of. I know when I buy I tend to look for buyers with good ratings and numerous sales. Is there any way, other than to jump in and start selling, to help give buyers confidence that I am genuine?Greg
Provide a link to your F4F username. Ex. I'm greg88 on F4F. That will given them a chance to verify that you are real and that your trees are true. If possible say where the parents came from, such as if they came from great source. Or something like that.
Offer to disclose who you received cutting or tree from. I do that on all my listings.
Also when you do start shipping, pack everything well, ship fast, and offer replacements or refunds if something goes wrong. Ratings are everything on Ebay. One bad one will shake confidence.Suzi
Hi greg88,As in every sale document what you're selling with your own pics of the mother tree, and of the trees that you'll be selling.Pics of your yummiest figs -from the trees that you're selling - might help you a lot :)Last year, I saw a sale for a fig tree. But the pic just looked like taken in another country. That to me meant back off .If the pics and the trees look like growing and fruiting successfully locally, that means a lot to me .Then, selling healthy looking trees - with fruits - that would be the top !
These all sound great so far, thanks!
I just sell a few things every once in a while. Had a perfect rating until a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes there are people that you just can't please. I sold a couple of pawpaws and the guy complained about several different things with the trees, one was the size but they were larger than the picture. I offered to let him return them but he didn't want to do that either. I think he wanted to keep the plants and get a refund. Anyway, he gave me a bad rating - hopefully my positive ratings will make up for it.
Desert dance , I totally agree. It only takes one bad rating from a displeased customer to screw you from a potential future customer. I even was thinking of giving a bad rating when I received a wilted fig tree from someone but, that person gave me some money back but, I'm still trying to nurse it back to life by re-rooting.i plan to sell it trees soon and hope I can be best the seller that I can be. Most important to me is a great rootball , if some leaves don't make it,so be. Packing to insure the tree won't be crushed if to deliverer is not gentle with it and places it on its top. Great communication is key to great success! I hope this helps because I'm just thinking what I want in a seller.
if you stated all the above, the forum ID, the source of your tree, and sharp pictures of the actual tree you are selling and picture of the fruit and the mother tree, you shipped in a well packed package, and always ship with Priority mail on Mondays...then you gave the buyer everything he is entitle to.make sure you take pictures of everything you ship, either have a camera for you business or memory card just for the business.and always insure your product...some times you going to get a smart ASS that he/she think can beat the system and get over...if you think you are right...do not budge your positive feedback will cover an idiot negative feedback.always remember you cannot please everybody... Mark
That is a good point too lebmark. Thanks for sharing.

I have found some people really want fast shipping, if you can get it out the next day they will like that. I had one guy that didn't want me to wait until after a holiday weekend so he would get it on Tue instead of Thur
I occasionally sell on ebay. My ebay userid is tucson57iron. I like the suggestions above. I usually ship within one business day of payment being received, though on occasion it takes a second business day. Mike central NY state, zone 5a
the first thing is to be honest and sell effectively the things you tell on ebay site. And the second is to use fast shipping because buyers like it and ask buyers to do good feedback. Be patient because there are many sellers on ebay and buyer like to buy from experiment buyer who have for exemple have sold 1000 items.
Thanks for the thoughts everyone. ready to get started.
