Garage budding

I'm seeing buds on my fig trees currently stored in the garage, I live in VA should I be concerned, should I take them out of the garage to slow the process down, or just leave them alone? thanks in advance.

Sam...I have a Hardy Chicago and a dark, unknown fig tree in my garage now that are both budding...it is far too cold here in N.J. to put them outside, so I'm just going to have to wait 3 or 4 more weeks 'till April...your location might be more fig friendly at this time of year...in any case I would do it gradually...maybe a couple of hours a day for about a week, and then increase...Good Luck !!

Try putting a couple handfulls of icecubes on the growing medium on warm days.

hey Sam

Same problem here in Maryland. Does your garage have windows? If so, i think you should move your plant close to the window and give it another drink. Daytime temps are reaching high 50's, even low 60's and evening temps are just freezing. The plants in our garages I think are just waking up to these early spring temps, and given our lack of any real winter so far, spring shouldn't be too far away.

I have some plants pushing buds and leaves in my cold garage, cold sun room, and warmer sun room. I guess we just have to go with what mother nature brings us.

Also here In south Jersey I just had to move three Black Ischia from my cold storage as they have leafed out and have Breba figs emerging. I am trying to hold off moving more trees out as I have close to 100 potted trees in there and wife will not allow that many in her basement.. I might have to rent a storage unit and put in some grow lights....
