Congrats Rob. I suppose the ripe fig came from a 2nd year tree. Stains on white flesh usually indicates a good tasting fig. Any chance you have main crop ripe figs ?

Hey Paully yes the Genovese is on her 2nd yr and this is not a breba It's a main crop.

Sure glad to know where my replacement tree originated. Many thanks to the kind donor. I look forward to sampling some figs next season.

All I have to say is these figs are AWESOME! Great fig to have in a pot and very productive.Enjoy photos and sorry for being a tease.

Here you go.

Oh my goodness !! They look fabulous!! My wish list is gettting longer and longer !!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say... amazing.  The fruit look so yummy.  I'm trying to decide which plants to try and this one is on the list, if I can ever find it for a reasonable price anywhere.  Thanks for posting and tempting us all.

Nice fig Robert, have my on your mind if you have extra cutting or 2.

Awesome looking figs! If you every hear the faint sound of the Mission Impossible theme music outside that might be me and my clippers. :-) Just kidding.

Lol Vince watch out for Buddy the Boston Terrier. He's guarding 24/7.

Not sure if it's due to location soil/fertilizer but they look very different than the ones I ate and seen at adrianos. How old is your tree Robert?

 Definately not genovese.

My plant is in It's 2nd year and my plant came from a really good source right from Adrianos.

Those photos are amazing. What a cool looking fig.

Hey Robert, how old is your tree? Are you growing it in a pot?

thanks!

Dennis, see post #16 re: age.  For what it's worth, I bought cuttings from Rob and they grew very vigorously and I picked one nice fruit in late July from a potted tree and the flavor was quite good considering the size and age of the tree.

rob's GN looks very much like mine. but i know that the intermediate source is different. this yr, the weather was so wacky, not sure if what i have seen really represent GN.

Beautiful fruit...... Need to see the ripe one...

Adriano told me a few times that this is a superb fig. I did not see my Genovese split inspite of much
rain in Oct. Sad to say, I got carried away with my recreational salmon fishing that I did not notice
the figs were ripe and by the time I got to them they all molded up. My tree is young -- 2nd season.
Had good growth and did produce about a dozen figs. This variant would do better for me this year as
I would keep it in the green house. Last yr I kept it outdoor.

Anyone got some extra cuttings?
Timothy

i know rob's GN is off adriano's tree. and rob's GN looks very much like mine. but mine didn't turn as dark inside or outside like rob's. maybe GN can behave widely different in different growing condition. i'll be giving my GN full sun this yr. mine was mostly under my KB last yr. very prolific tree. put on something like 10 fig on 1st yr putting on the figs.

edit: i'm sending one of air layer to a member who has same GN as rob. he should be able to tell if they are the same.

Pete, My GN didn't turn as dark either. I think it was due to getting ripe so late in the season. Also it was started last winter. It was my best grower of all my first year plants.
