I had made a large air layer from my tree last year and gave it to a friend in the South. He said that it produced dark and tasty figs with a bit of crunch. I guess it fits the description of a GN.

I had a super ripe Genovese hanging on the tree. I went to the post office and came back and it is gone!

Once I finish typing this frustrating thread I am going out to buy a better pellet rifle. PETA can kiss my A$$.

That sucks to hear. It would be game on if my figs were getting ripped from my trees.

I think tomorrow I'm going to buy a trap and try to trap whatever is getting these figs.  I might also wrap some figs up with window screen material.  There are other figs that I've been watching that have been left alone but whatever it is sure seems to like Genovese Nero!

I can trap, catch, chase away, scare, just about anything but the armadillos seem to know exactly when to tear everything up. No traps work and I can not stay up all night, they seem to know that.

I had a big question mark on mine and rightfully so because of the way it looked.
I was  told by a few theirs did the same as mine did at one time or another. I even asked another friends who I sent a large air layer of and he said the figs were large and dark.

Yours however, I am 99.9% certain you have the real deal. Has the looks and size of a Genovese.
The leaves I've seen were very close to one.

As for the taste, I think it may have to do with its' age.

Is this the breba? looks like the breba to me. The main crop is smaller.

Rafed, do you have any idea what the flavor is suppose to be like? Berry or melon/honey like?

All of mine have been main crop. No breba this year on the tree.

I picked 4-5 Genovese Nero today. A few of them were over-ripe as I had been gone since Thursday.  This one was very good, maybe a 9.  Sweet and very good flavor, maybe could use a bit more acidity.  Temperatures remain 5F-10F below normal for here.

That's an amazing looking fig.  This thread has me intrigued.

The weather has been awesome here. These get a 12 rating. Still the best in yard.

Wow, good job.  About how many grams are yours?  I wonder what these typically run weight wise.  Mine are caprified, I believe.
