Definitely one on my list, that looks great! The leaves look clean too no visible fmv

Look harder BlB its there.  ; )

Main crop Genovese Nero usually looks like blk Madeira in shape yours looks different. Leafs look a bit different too.

I'm hoping that it's because it is a young tree.  I'll watch to see how this fig develops.

Deformed leaf at 9 o'clock in the 3rd pic.It sometimes occurs from cold damage, but the growth looks new and green so it may have FMV.

Anyone have pictures of figs on a young Nero Genovese?

Do you have pictures of figs on a young Nero Genovese?  The only picture I have seen of the fig in on Adrianos website.  I think this is only the second year for this tree.

TMC thanks for showing this type i have heard good things about it .
Please post interior of fig if you get a chance.  ; )

Hope no one thought i was nit picking about a plant that may have or has fmv, im just familiar with it and what it looks like.

Many of mine have it .

Here is the fig I picked today.  If I go by the picture on Adriano's website it doesn't look like Genovese Nero but it is a very young tree still.

I think you might need more time as the Genovese Nero is supposed to be a much larger fig.
I kept only one fig on my tree just to see it ripen because right now I want my tree to grow.
Mine is roughly 7ft tall from soil to tip. The only branch that started on it will soon be a goner, deformed so not wasting time with it.

I can cut the tip to force it to branch but on the other hand I am letting it grow so I can make cuttings.

I also have the G. Bianco and if you like I can take pictures and post tomorrow. Judging from the size it looks like the G Bianco will be a large fruit when ripe

Tom, you did not say how the G. Nero tasted? How do you grade it?

Thanks

Mine is growing more like a bush shape.  I will take better pictures of the whole tree tomorrow.  It has several figs on it.  I just up potted it only a couple of weeks ago too.  I had left it in the 1 gal pot up to that point.  So this one is a strong one.

I am really terrible at grading the taste of these figs.  It's easy when it's an Armenian and a Ischia Black side by side.  There are some more that I will have ripen and I'll try to sit down and be more discerning about the taste.

Thanks

Bump

Personally I don't think it is but give it another season young plants do crazy things sometimes. Main crop should be more shaped like a blk Madeira yours looks a bit more like a mt etna type.

Here's what mine looks like so far. This is It's first yr producing. We'll see what happens.

Nelson, I am surprise that so many collecters have Genovese Nero.  For years this variant is almost impossible to have.

I'm new to this forum and to figs.  I've seen this variety but can't seem to find anyplace to get it except in Canada.  Anyone know a US source?  Thanks.

I Just ate a Genovese AF.
It was 102 grams! It is a one year old tree and has about five more on it,
Tonight I will post pictures.
It is a definite keeper.
Vito

Mine is from Trees of Joy and their source is Adriano's in Cananda

@ tmc2009 Thanks for letting me know!   I didn't see it on these but I'll check again.  At least now I know someone is selling it.  Thanks again.

Vito,

The suspense is killing me! lol

Hi Guys i wonder if anyone have spare cutting or extra cutting for Genovese Nero ? what about exchange with me ? i have a spare Bordissot Negra Rimada up for exchange..... an dit's rooted :)

Cameldog, I've rooted all of my cuttings already and most of my extra plants have been sold already (one on eBay now).  It's just too hard for me to ship a plant from California to Malaysia and probably even more difficult (and illegal) to receive a plant from you.  You might have to wait until November at this point in the year.
