Getting Cool

Let the dogs out at 1:30am and 6:45 am . I saw 42 degree's on neighbors gauge hanging on his shed.
Online showing 46 . First time in long time had to put on long sleeve sweatshirt.
Last few days its been tough to get 70 for daily high.

Think this is were Jon says
What are you waiting for ?

in north carolina, the nigh temp is still in 60's. however, the day temp is in mid/upper 80's. if i remember, last few years, the temp has been dropping. by sept, the weather should be still blazing hot during the day going into 90's. and that used to go into oct. withou much drop in temp.

but i don't have to worry too much about temp going to 40's till later.

Martin I feel your pain, here too has been cool lately 50's in the night and 70-75 day time but its been couldy the last couple days with rain. Worst season yet since I started growing figs 90% of the figs on the trees will not ripen and will start pulling them all off. Seems the more plants I get the less figs I eat.

Hi Martin.

We're feeling a little of that also. It was 53 at my house this morning at 6:30. I know this isn't typical for this time of year and I'm sure we'll see some temps in the 80's or even 90's again. I've seen it in the 80's in November here in this part of KY. It was like that for part of Nov in '09.

I just hope this cool snap doesn't effect some of the figs I've been waiting on to ripen.

We are finally warming up. Made 93 today and 71 last night.

Martin! No, no no, just no. Not yet! Similar temps here.
I am crossing my fingers in hopes that we will have enough heat to get these little figgies to ripen. I have dozens and dozens this year, finally.
Weren't we just complaining about the heat about 3 days ago? :)

Down to the high 90s this week.  I spent the morning shaving my big furry malamute to keep her cool through September.

Hi AnnieBee naw not me complaining .  ; )
It will be in 40s tonight again but then  next 7 days forcast say night lows in 50s and daily highs low to mid 70s.
My container figs still getting ripe regardless as they get heat from cement patio still and on the rocky area , just takes them a little longer to fully ripen as the days are getting shorter also.

Hey Nelson

I just cracked up laughing after your comment,I feel the same way the more fig trees I require the less figs I eat.

Geo

Well, it is getting cold here. Many plants have some leaves turning yellow and there are plenty of green hard figs in trees in the open as usual. We may get early dormancy on many trees. Trees on the south facing wall are rushing to ripen fruits.

That fur helps to insulate the dogs....will be hotter without it.....especially in the sun....

ohjustaguy is right. I shaved my head for LoL in July and could not go out hatless for a month.

Like she goes outside???  LOL, she is a house dog, and a creature of the night.  She would spend all night outside if we let her, but I have to force her outside just to "go" during the day.

Figs are all doing the same, about 18 inches and green.  What more can I ask?
