Getting worried about UC Davis order...

Hi,
In another thread folks are sharing that they have either heard from and/or received their orders from NCGR at UC Davis.

I got concerned, wrote into that thread and found that folks that had got their orders ordered after me. I placed an order on September 8th, sending my email to a Ms Robards (the website at that time said to send orders to her) and received a confirmation number the very next day from her.

I decided to write to her, politely asking about the status of the order. Then I wondered if she was still there, and looked at the NCGR at UC Davis website only to NOT find her listed on the "People" page any longer. So, I have written to B. Prins asking him politely for the status of my order.

The worry comes in when I think that maybe MY order got lost in the transition when Ms. Robards left.

If that happened then perhaps I will have to wait another year, and thereby pay a penalty for not ordering later.

Darn!

I doubt this is the case.  I couldn't find her listed either when I put in the order, but she definitely answered my email when I requested adding Vernino to my order (I forgot it)

Just hang tight - It's always best to stay positive.  You can be upset and down later, when you know for a fact that this happened.

I have no choice but to wait. I will remain positive and hopeful. I had just thought that by ordering earlier, I would have had my order filled prior to those who ordered later. I just hope that they have reserved the varieties that I had ordered in early Sept. and that they don't run out because they used them to fill orders that they got over two months later.

Anyway, thanks Tom and Jason for the reassurances.

When I have requested plant material from UC Davis in the past, there were a couple of varieties of figs and pomegranates that I had requested and gotten confirmations on that were not actually available at the time my request was 'filled' because of circumstances beyond the control of the staff there, i.e. weather related issues. Sometimes these things happen with living plant materials that can't be predicted in advance. However, I've always gotten my shipments, even if they were short a variety a couple of times.

I to got a confirmation from Ms. Robards on 10/8/10 but have heard nothing since.  I did send her an email asking politely for the status.  i have not recieved anyhting back saying the email address did is not in service.  I am getting a little worried myself.

sorry 10/8/09

Well last year's order that I put in during Nov'08 did get lost. I finally made contact with Bernie in April and asked about it. They had no record of it but asked me to resend it and he would see what could be done. I was able to get nearly half what I asked for but only figs. None of the grape or pome were available. I haven't received my order this year either...deja vu?

Has anyone had contact with Bernie?  My order was sent to him but got repsonded to by Ms. Robards

I sent to Bernard as well, and my response (confirmation) came from Robards.  I have never received any correspondence from Bernard.  I still say hang in there for another week, it's very possible they're doing this in random (lottery) or alphabetical order, or even ordering it based on the "reason" or "purpose" line of the order, favoring those doing research versus hobby over the folks that supplied no reasoning?  I dunno.

I'm sure they got thousands of orders, and the folks receiving above, including myself, just happened to get lucky to get ours first.

If I've learned anything with figs, it's patience.  (Easy for me to say, I already got my UCD cuttings right? ;) )

Still waiting, here, too.  I sent them an email 5 days ago, no response as of yet.  When I placed my order, originally it did not go through, and I contacted them about it, they had me resend the order, and it was received and I got back a confirmation number.  I assume I am probably the last order on the list....

Ok, so I'm impatient. I decided after 5 days of no response from Prins to write again. This time I included John Preece as well as the "OrderNCGR..." addresses in my email.

I wrote this email at around 7:00 MDT, which was around 6 out in California. Imagine my surprise when about 10 minutes later I got a response from Mr Preece. He informed me that things are busy, and if I hadn't received my order within 2 weeks to write back to him.

So, it looks like they have a couple more weeks of orders to fill. I just got nervous (jealous) when I heard others were getting theirs.

Hi Tom,
good that you heard back so soon and its put you somewhat at ease. The anticipation i imagaine must have been............
Keep your hopes high !

Lol, I think he eased my worries a bit too.  Its no biggie, as there is always next year/next season, but its like waiting for christmas, and everyone else has their presents...

My shipment notice received a couple hours ago.

FYI: The notice and tracking info were sent 1/23, but the shipment has not actually been received at FedEx, yet, - so there is some lag between the cuttings being packaged, the recipient being notified and the package actually being shipped.

You still got more information than I got.  I dropped an inquiry a week ago, and have not heard.  Did bluesguy hear anything yet, after all, he did start this thread :)

I got no confirmation and no shipment yet.

I did e-mail Bernie Prins, and he did reply a couple days later and indicated he had packed a shipment for someone with my name, but the notification from FedEx came before Bernie go back to me. He did indicate that they have a lot of shipments going out in the next couple weeks.

I just got a FedEx notice (sent 3/26) that my cuttings are scheduled to ship tomorrow (3/28), so they're working on it--don't give up hope!

I got my email with tracking number today. It says it will be shipped tomorrow (Monday the 29th).

I guess I should not have worried. Now I hope that all 33 varieties of figs and 6 varieties of plumcots arrive. I guess I will be ok if some aren't available.

Got my order today.  I did not receive any shipping notice, but it just showed up today.  UC Davis sent so many cuttings that I am sure I will have extra available for everyone.  It's like finding a big easter egg.  :)
