Taste pretty good. Didn’t want to lose the first one so I picked it a little early since more are coming.

Looks great, Keith.  I am awaiting mine (probably won't ripen this year).  Do you know the ethnic origin of this one? It has interesting leaves, and I think it had an interesting story of how you acquired it.  Do you know anything else about this one? Age of the mother tree, country of origin, etc.  Thanks.

Looks nice and the mother tree is so big, it would feed an army.

Thanks for the tip. Can anyone post some pics of their Stella leaves? I emailed One Green World who claim to have reintroduced Stella but haven't heard back yet.

Not sure that leaf matches up

This one was almost perfect.

I first noticed Getty Green about 4 years ago on Getty Ave, Clifton. I’d pass every 3-4 months on the way for routine blood tests. My Doc is always trying to find something. I never saw anyone outside. I must have visited 40 times over the years. No one ever answered the doorbell. Finally I saw an elderly woman spraying a young child with the hose. Clifton has a lot of ethnic neighborhoods. Unfortunately her English wasn’t the best. I had a hard enough time explaining that I wanted a cutting; I didn’t bother asking her anything else.

These trees are about 5-6 blocks from Getty Green. I rang his doorbell every time I rang hers. He never answered :(

Thanks for the link, this one could be Stella. My leaves seem to be a little more decorative but leaves can vary, sometimes a good deal.

KK,
Thanks for sharing the pictures and info.
Here are pictures of Stella (aka Dalmatie) leaves from last season and this season from 2 different sources...

What big beautiful fig tree!  What did it taste like?

My Dalmatie looks very similar.  Super sweet, no seed crunch and a light jammy taste.

I find the riper it gets the less hollow the centre.  I have difficulty telling when it is completely ripe since the skin is thick and stays firm.
The best ripe indication for me is when it droops down all the way and gets browning around the eye and softens.  I assume the browning is the honey flowing out and getting oxidized.

There is a fig called Vasilika Sika in circulation in North America which is in the same family as Stella and Dalmatie.  That would be another candidate match for this UNK fig.

Keith,
that's a great find.
I does look like Stella.
And, by now, we all have seen and discussed leaf changes due to adaptation to various reasons on figs...so, that is not a Prime deciding factor seems like.
Uhm...get cuttings!  LOL

The questions arising regarding this matter is:

-Can you find out how old that tree is from the owners?

-Does the age match to the Time stated when the "One Green World" state they introduced this variety themselves and when was that Time.
(If the tree is older than the times the "One Green World" introduction times than... hm...)

Thanks for the tip. One Green World finally got back to me.

"Dear Keith,
The photo's you included in your email show a Stella type fig leaf. Did you see the fruit on the plant?"

"Dear Keith,

The fruit you have pictured looks very similar to a Stella fig.
I think it is safe to say that you have a Stella fig. Thank you for your email and
please let us know if you have any further questions.
