Wow, Thank you Frank. Never had a fig like that. I think its cool the white around the flesh. I am going to do some trading later in the fall and winter and hope to expand my fig collection. Will see if Jon has this one so I can get it out of his hand..LOL
Yes, quite nice. Which Gino's is this. There are several, aren't there?
Thanks for posting these tasty figs.Best,Tam
WoW they look so good and they are from this year cutting WoW.
Dale, they were labeled Gino's Black. Eden, my favorite figs are those that produce from cuttings in their first year and of course, taste great.
Gino's is a delicious fig. Very sweet and berry like.
Thanks for the update Frankgoss
I have a young Gino's and am looking forward to trying them
Nice looking fig Frank . Would you mind posting pics of the leaf pattern please , when you get a chance? TIA.
It was my understanding (and I'm not saying it's correct) that Gino's and Gino's Black are the same. I have an in ground tree that came to me as "Gino's Black". Last year a friend of mine's son was running through the field and tripped over it. It broke right at the basal flare. I wasn't sure it was going to make it so I got some cuttings from Jon which were named "Gino's". The one in the field survived, but has put on marginal growth this year. I don't think I can accurately compare it to the cuttings I rooted this year.
Yes James ,they are the same.Providing they are just as healthy, they are the same, otherwise they might be different.
Here are some pictures of the tree and the leaf pattern. It is 5 1/2 feet tall, despite having been pinched. Please be my witnesses to how disrespectfully my birds treat me. They took offense at an air layer I put up and destroyed it mercilessly. Why oh why?
Thanks for the pics . Love the leaves . Good to know they are excellent tasting too. You get no respect from those birds Frank !! Unbelievable they tore the air layer apart!
very nice, thanks for sharing
I had problems with squirrels and birds tearing into my air-layers when I was in Houston. It drove me nuts.
I definitely agree with you Frank. I am so impatient for everything I do lol.
So is this the same as the fig shown as Gino's on the varietal pages?
