Herman, really some great looking figs!!!!!!!!!!!!not to sound stupid but what are thethings on the branches that look like liter pop bottles ??thanks carman
Looks like an air layer.
EJP,Answered it.Too bad,no roots yet,and I made it in July.
HermanEnjoy the last few days of the season with ripe figs. I had`one rain soaked very ripe Hardy Chicago with skin almost washed away but still very sweet. Most probably air-layering does not affect the growth and ripening cycle for fig fruit below the air-layered point as seen here. How does air-layering affect the growth and ripening cycle of the fig fruit above the air-layer point to the tip of the branch if the branch is not separated from mother plant and afterward when the branch is separated?
Herman is a Ginos fig similar to a Sal's?
No,It is only just as early, and so pretious to me.I knew someone will ask this question.
Nice pic's. Last year 3 of the variants I air layered in early July never took but somehow they all rooted this year by late June. It sure took a while.
Nice looking figs H. I use the same kind of containers to air layer. I figure they are going in the trash anyway, why not use them for something else and recycle them for a while. Always enjoy your posts.
Thanks Cecil:The future is Recycle and reuse, and that is what is need to be done.I recycle everything.H2
