He was thinking under FIFA rules he does not have to say what the penalty was called for and he did not which is a terrible rule if any Ref is bias towards a team similar to the Olympic judges when they score different events perhaps?
Its a shame as i watched the game and there were some unjust calls, Hockey my number 1 sport , soccer my number 2 sport, my father played soccer in Italy and always watched the games too bad he could not see Italy win last time nor the Chicago Blackhawks as he loved Hockey as number 2 sport.

Speaking of figs mine are doing good for the most part, wont get any maderia figs this season as plant took spring in a bad way but may get to taste pastiliere and drk potuguese this season maybe a few others time will tell.
My mature old reliables are doing well as usual.

Here in the northeast, this is shaping up to be the best year for figs in YEARS!  For the in ground trees the mild winter did wonders and for both (in ground and the ones in pots), the extra warm spring and high number of sunny days has them well ahead of previous years.  I have a 2 foot black madeira that has figs at every node!  About the USA soccer game not only did he make a terrible call by dissallowing the goal but he missed at least 3 different defenders that had thier hands wrapped around team USA players.  What a disgrace!

Figs are doing good with all this rain, as i type this its starting to thunder out more rain coming. Just hope come late august into septenber the rain gods are more kind.

I watched the north koreans get smashed 7 - 0 and actually felt bad for the players  as its possible the leader of NK might not make it pleasent for them when they arrive back home.

Recievd the Chicago Blackhawks stanley cup  3x5 flag yesterday and its on our 20ft flagpole but coming down as its getting ready to storm out once again (sigh so much rain lately) my small gallon fig plants are up against house wall now for wind protection.

I'm sorry to those rooting for the French, But I for one am glad to see them out. The way the team, coach and their execs conducted them selves in a World event is disgraceful

Bass was correct.
We go on the play Ghana Saturday , personally i think Ghana has slight advantage as the home team with the whole continent backing them but one cannot count out USA which just might pull it out.

my plants took a beating with this rain ( 2 inches) this morning as we had strong winds, i added some stakes to a few plants when sun came out and the temps rose quickly which will fuel the next round of storms predicted for later tonight, weather man says we are right at the edge of what he calls the ring of fire.

1-0 to USA.. just what I predicted.. I don't think that the US has ever went that far.

Congrats! I'm really surprised with your soccer (funny word for an European ears) team. They really deserve the 1st place in the group. It was so embarassing to watch England sticking to corner flag last 4 minutes. That ruins the spirit of the game!

Watched the Italians sleep on continent of Africa . This game they awoke but much to late they lost. The coach displayed poor sportmanship in my opinion and walked off the field not to shake hand of winning coach.
I hope they change coach and get some much needed younger talent for the future . It was hard to watch.

My figs boy did they take a thrashing yesterday high winds some recorded up to 80 mph, knocked down trees in area, in city closed 2 major expressways.
The thunder and lightning was spectacular to see and hear.
I had moved all small 1 gqallon plants to the front porch out of wind before this storm arrived. The other plants some were put up against wall and the big pots were left on there own and ride things out and did well and recieved 4 and a half inches of rain so there well watered for now.
All plants are back to there normal spots in full sun today.

Well my parents were from Italy , Italy won last world cup, my lovely wife is from Spain so i root for Spain now.

PaulandDirene, my wife makes that potato and egg omelet and she says i ruin my plate of it when i put hot suace on it but thats me !

In keeping with fig theme on forum she (wife) does not like figs but loves fig bread, son does not like figs.
My daughter and i get to enjoy them all to ourselves which hopefully start to ripen a few late next month just maybe little earlier ( mid August ? ) as warmer weather came earlier this season here. September is when they ripen closer together instead of one here and there.

It is going to be:
Spain 3 (minus 2), Netherland 1 (minus 1)
... & it could become more than wishful thinking.

I too am cheering for Spain! I knew this would happen as I watched Spain annihilate Portugal along with 700 other Spaniards in the Lowenbrau Cellar in Munich 10 days ago. Most fun I have had in a long time!! They have been playing sluggish since, but with Muller out on Germany team, they were a shoe-in.

This will be a crazy weekend! Wish I was in Spain right now!!!

I watched Spain annihilate Portugal. A 1-0 win is not an Annihilation but 7-0 sure is. Besides david villa's goal against portugal was offside.

Both played very, very well.
No matter what the outcome is, history is just being made
(the 8th NEW [1st time] World Cup football [aka. soccer] winner).

For lack of any other reason(s), I'll be rooting for the origin
of some of them my figs I have (you FIGure this one!).

Overall, it has been a very nail-biting/head-clasping mixed with
jumping/screaming but FUN watching experience...
