Good quality small/medium size figs

I am on the prowl seeking good quality small/medium size figs -- green & dark color. Baud did mention it is usually with green skin. I am not particular as long as they are good. Here's what I have that have proven as keepers:

Dark Portuguese, Marseillies VS, Negronne, Hardy Chicago, Celeste, Hollier

Untested: Biancheta, Yugo Yellow, Black Maderia, Falls Gold, Verte

Coming to my collection: Sal's EL, Gino, Ayman's Fig, NSA No.1, Black Ischia, Roundhill, Zingarella

Need More Time To Prove: Adriano, LSU Golden Celeste

I hope others can chime in sharing their experience and add on the list of  good quality small/medium fig variants.

Pauly, I am in Zone 5 with relatively colder summer but I found Marseilles VS Black, Hardy Chicago, Sal, Celeste and Natalina relatively early ripening for me; so you better try Natalina.
I mean the few which ripened for me were on these plants. besides, they were similar looking and almost similar (but not exact) sizes. With my experience, or attention to details, I would not have differentiated much if placed mixed in the same plate.

Thanks Ottawan. Will add Natalina to my want list. The wife prefers the small flavourful figs.

Paully, no problem but by now you would have been 1.5 years ahead with Natalina. But anyway at your age it should 'never be too late' for a long time to come.

Ottawan, Yeah, I know but with good fig friends like you & many others I could have been ahead. I was too caught up in the big juicy ones. Well, the boss at home tells me she likes the small ones better after getting spoilt  with Bass's Dark Portuguese & Herman's Marseillies VS etc, its time I took heed on what she prefers. My son have even join the band wagon on preference for the small/medium figs. They also love the TG's, Elana, Vicenzo, Slocan & Enrico. Just superd too.

Paully,
i often said i would take a small tasty fig over a big juicy any time it just took me some years though to get rid of the unknown. Its always hard to get rid of a plant but since last year i have did this with 3 so far and would no hesitate with my others if need be.
Hey since this post have you had a change of heart if so please let me know here or via email as i will be sending out Monday if not no big deal its 1 less package to ship  ; )

Thanks Martin. Will send you email.

May I ask a question here? Do people really destroy trees you do not like or ones that are not performing well for you? I have always disliked waste. It seems such a shame not to dig the tree up and sell it or give it away. From reading on the forum, there are trees that do not do well in one part of the county but may do well in another. I read where someone said he or she burn the tree. Why burn it? Give it away. Is this just an expression or do people really destroy these trees. Maybe I misunderstood what I have read. Maybe the trees had a disease.
 Have a great day,
 J.A.

So far I have not destroy any fig trees intentionally. I have given them away with no problems thus far. However, there's always the first time like I may have to destroy if there are no takers here for "Zergas" Brunswick. Thanks to his generous "mistake" or con I have more than my share of Brunswick(8) which is lousy for my zone.

Paully, Adriano spoke highly of the Biancheta he said they are not very big but very good quality figs.

Paully,

It is a dirty shame that Zergy is getting away with this on EBAY

There is bound to be something a buyer could do as far as ebay is concerned with him!

I have been lucky enough to not buy anything from that Guy!

Stay warm up there my Friend.

Cecil, this forum is helping with people like Zergy. It stopped  me from purchasing an Italian 258 cutting from him. I understand it is a good fig and had a itch to get one. But after reading on here about him there is not way I would purchase it from him.

Yes this forum is very helpful to its members, but I feel sorry for those that are not members buying the stuff off of Mifig4fun

Nelson - my Biancheta is from Adriano. He told me it is a good variant. We traded plants. I should have ripe figs next year. There were 2 figs this year & I had pick them off.

I was sweet talk into trading with Zergas pretending to be "Sue" or it could be the real Sue. I had a hobbyist who wrote me stating that he felt funny when out of nowhere he had mail signing off as "Dan" while he was in communication with "Sue". He asked & the answer was she was in communication with "her brother" on the phone & accidently signed off his bro name. Its sad when someone had to go to this extend to acquire cuttings. I can say "Sue" was one real charmer with the right choice of words. Very courteous. I guess she never realise the cuttings would root & fruit so quick. Besides I already have a large Brunswick tree. I gave one of these rooted cuttings to a friend far away who reported that it is a Brunswick. The variants I have from the Gonclaves are Gentile, LSU Tiger, Scotts Black, LSU Everbearing, Calvert, I-258, Smith, Petite Negri, Sal's(Gene). All those that have shown to be Brunswick will  likely be destroy as I am not keen to pass on variants that are hopeless for my zone. I mailed him Vicenzo, Adriano, Tony's Greek, Bochum, Lattarula, Osborne Prolific, Vern's BT & Elana. Not forgetting there is a good Dan residing in MI and we should be very clear about it.

Ha ha ha, I hope you're talking about me!

WAY OFF TOPIC: My father and I did 2-week tour of the northwest your back in July. Started in Seattle, headed east across the top of Washington state, swung up through Banff, Yoho and Glacier, then started heading back to Vancouver by way of Chilliwack. My father grew up in this area but mostly in Chilliwack. We spent 2-days there seeing the sights, looking up my dad's old friends and eating pie at the Airport Cafe. Chilliwack is a very cool town. I wish I would have known you lived there, I'd have bought you a piece of pie!

Dan

Ya you are the good Dan. You would be most welcome to visit any time. Surprise you even knew where the good pies are. I was in LA, San Diego & Desert Springs in the early part of July. Hope you have a wonderful trip to Bnaff & Chilliwack.

yes i destroyed several trees last season and gave one large one away.
One burned in my burn can was from someone off ebay mentioned in this thread, i burned it and would never give away such a plant for there is going to be much confusion in the years to come from folks that have those plants and i did not want to contribute to that no no.
Another did produce a whopping 1 fig in 4 years destroyed.
Another produced but left too many unripe figs i gave that tree away.
I would not hesitate to get rid of a tree, if its too large i cannot ship and if someone cannot pick it up then it goes to the burn can.
