UPDATE!
Once more, I drove to the Goodwill fig tree. It still beckons me! I parked in front of one of the three properties where I believe the tree lives. I look around and one house has one window open so I go there and knock on the door. The dog starts barking as before. His nose is right up at the door as he sniffs and barks at me. I would hate to see him face to face, that's for sure! I knock again, and again, and again, and again. The doorbell button is missing but I pressed the thing anyway. Nothing! No one comes to the door and yet I sense someone IS home. There is also a very nice corvette parked right in front of the property and in fact, the car is actually parked a few feet over the driveway entrance so it indicates to me that it is likely an owner or a resident who owns the car. Well, anyway, no answer again.

A walk around the house to the side without crossing the property line so as to not get in "trouble" with anyone. It's a quiet neighborhood. I took a quick picture of the shed where I see SOOOOOOO MANY figs that have fallen. Yup, it's the right house alright. Anyway, I go back toward my car but I'm trying to get the address to this house because I'm thinking that a written letter may be the only way to reach anyone. I see the address and go back to my car to write it down. Suddenly, a guy in army fatigues approaches my car and says "can I help you?" It was a bit intimidating but I quickly let him know that I was just want to ask a few questions about the fig tree in the back and possibly get some cuttings. His response was "what fig tree? It's a lemon tree!" I said "it's a fig tree" and I am interested in just getting a few cuttings. He said "I'm not the owner. I just rent from my friend but come back when you see a black car in front."

I think the guy came out because he saw me near his corvette. Otherwise he would have ignored me (as many times before). I don't blame him, I'm a stranger, right?

Okay, so no luck this time but I will keep trying. I'm getting warmer!

This is a beautiful fig tree, but when he said lemon, for a second, I could feel the disappointment. Hope you get your cuttings soon.
So next time don't ring the bell. Stand in front of his corvette.lol

No matter what the history or real name of this fig turns out to be, I will still think of this variety in my head as Meg's Green Persistence. Lol. I hope your persistence pays off the next time you visit the Goodwill tree.

Sas, you know that feeling.... "you mean there is NO fig tree back there?! Of course, i know its back there but i cant get to it! Yes, apparently his corvette did it because he dame out quick!

Fignfever, thanks for your encouragement. Its hard to go knock on a stranger's door time after time only to feel deflated. But youre right...and, I may never get the full story...time will tell.
