Any idea on the variety?
Too bad no one knows varieties here... I got it just because I liked the pinkish-purple eye lol. It also has pink spots on the fig if you can look closely.

Ahlen Wassehlen Mohammed,

I checked your profile and it says you are in Oman. That's Jordon correct?

Look up these two cultivars: Hava and Shenshare.
These two are said to be Mideastern figs.

The leaves on yours closely resembles the Hava though. But not 100% sure.

I have both these cultivars and I will go out soon and snap a couple pictures.

Good luck

Ya Hala Wa Marhaba Rafed!
Oman is a country in the gulf region, The most unknown Arab country hehehe ;P

We have many different climates from Salalah which is tropical to the Empty Quarter desert...
I live in Muscat which has humid hot summers and cold rainy winters.
I looked them up and thank you by the way for giving me those two names "Hava and Shenshare".
They look similar I think.
Here are two updated photos as the fig changed colour a little today:

Yeah one more thing! The seller told me it is brought from Pakistan. Hope this is helpful by anyway...
Great! waiting for those pictures!
Thanks!

Looks a bit like Purple Jordan.

Sorry, I have no clue on the variety, hopefully, some fig expert might be able to help.

Thanks for the info, Mohammed,

Here are the pictures of my Hava. I did not include the Shenshare as I was nowhere close with this one. I named both because I new it was one or the other. The only difference I see is that the leaves on yours are more thicker looking than mine. Could be the climate difference. Not sure though.

Hope others can chime in and offer their opinions.

Please enjoy the pictures,

Enjoy the Forum.
You have a long summer in Oman and no risk of frost and rarely freeze. So it will surely ripen for you to enjoy.

Rafed, I know experience is important, but where do you get all this information? You need to write a book in your spare time. Right? Spare time? Serious though, you have a lot of fig information/knowledge, if you have any reference books, literature etc.. (hopefully English...or not) that you recommend for us to purchase, please send us in the right direction. Okay, I'm being serious again, you should write a book.

Thanks Art I will see how the fig develops.
Thank you Otmani, I think Rafed has an idea on what it might be.
Nice pictures Rafed, Thanks!
Yeah I think the leaves are thicker on mine. Perhaps the heat is responsible for that hmmm....
The fig is somewhat different I think, Would have to wait for it to ripen.
Ahh Rafed is the Hava a common fig or it needs pollination?
Thanks for the major help :)
Thank you
Ottawan, Yeah long summer and no frost in my area till now :)

Mohammed,

I think it is the main crop only. If Bass were around he would answer that question.
I think one of the best ways to compare is for them to ripen, if they ripen.

Good luck

Thanks Rfed, will keep an eye on it till it ripens or drops.

Wayne,

I just go by what I personally have and take it from there. Or what I have personally seen at other collectors.  I am not always right though.
This is why I like to present with pictures and lay it out for everyone to see and wait for opinions.

I do have Pons and Bauds books. One in Spanish and the other in French. I try to translate as much as I can. I also do a lot of reading on the internet. Plus, I have over 10 years of fig growing. This is a plus for me.

I am far from being a pro, I am an amateur like most everyone else. But thank's for the compliment.;)

Let's hope they will ripen and let's not think about the bad word (drop);)

Sure ;)

Mohammed,

If your tree is indeed a "Hava" then this is what it should look like'
