--- Got the fig books!

Today I got the Pons book, a few days before, the Bauds and Simmons’.
It feels like Christmas :)

I was surprised how heavy was the Pons one, a few pounds for sure. It is printed on a high quality glossy paper. The Baud’s is nice and light, I was a bit disappointed though, the pages dedicated to  fig varieties do not show the fig insides, you can see the skin color only.
I got them all on Amazon, Pons @ $61, Baud @ $21, and the Fig Heaven was like $4 or so.

Now, where do they offer the French and Catalan classes?..

Please see them all compared!

Igor, you speak French also?

Je ne sais pas :)
Pourquoi aurais-je besoin de prendre une classe?

LOL, good ole Google Translate.

Combien de temps avez-vous e'te' croissance figues?

Oh.. common.
I am showing you the books since I have not seen them before (but many have discussed them) and I am sure some would be interested to see them.
I think we have enough computer skills on how to use the Google translate to impress and entertain each other for long time!

(answer to your question: 2 years)

i still need to get that cookbook.. lol

That pons book looks very informative!

Those books look amazing, are there any English versions of them translated by chance?

pons book comes in spanish version. easier to read. baud's book is in french, i have no clue what he is saying. i think the cookbook is in english.

Pete,
I believe the Pons is in Catalan. Are you saying there is one more version which is in Spanish?

I picked up Fig Heaven used, some pretty good recipes in it. The other books look great, too.....if you can translate.

Arne

Greenfig, yes,  there is an Spanish versión of Pon's book:

Axier,
Thank you for the link, I was not aware of the Spanish edition. That would be easier for me read.

Would you know how Pons distributes his cuttings in Europe? There is a cutting request form on his website, strangely enough in English (why in English? ).

When I ordered the Pons book on Amazon, it was listed as a Spanish edition, the seller is the_book_depository - Amazon Marketplace.
I received it in Catalan. I emailed to Amazon with a request for a return. I just got a surprise email from the vendor that says they are refunding my money AND I can keep the book!
Here is the email:

Hi

Thank you for confirming the ISBN number. I’m very sorry to report that we have incorrectly listed this item and will not be able to send out the correct item to you. As such a full refund has been issued to you; please allow 2 to 3 working days for this to show on your accounts.

Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Isn’t it nice!!

Igor
Very correct and  professional
Rare these days !

Good reading

Francisco

Hi,
If some translations from phrases of the book sound weird to you ... Don't be surprised.
@greenfig : Pourquoi aurais-je besoin de prendre une classe? -->wrong
Pourquoi aurais-je besoin de prendre un cours de français? --> Right :)
@Aaron4usa :
Combien de temps avez-vous e'te' (été?) croissance figues? --> wrong .
Depuis combien de temps faites vous pousser des figuiers ? --> right :)
It is always amazing to notice how people have been secretive especially in
agricultural field... This explains why there are not that many books about figs ...

Figtrees do mutate fast. This may be an explanation to why the strains haven't been that much described.

jdsfrance,

thank you for your corrections! I’ll pass them to the Google translate :)

Although, I think I am at fault supplying the incorrect input. I typed “class” and got “classe” back. I believe if I typed “course in French” I would get the correct expression back. So I blame the cultural differences here!

I agree with you that the fig trees mutate fast. In the case of the books, they have very nice photos, descriptions and could serve as a good conversation start at least!

I am sorry, but I don't know how Montserrat distributes his cuttings in Europe.
I have exchanged cuttings with him but not through his website.

By the way, congratulations for your free book from Amazon! :-)
