Grafting a Loquat

I did it just like i would a fig graft, a total of 3 on two treelets.
Hope they take.

Has anything budded out yet. Last year a friend of mine helped me bud two trees. One graft took but the other grafts did not. I am grafting some Christmas onto one now. I hope it will take.

Do you think it is necessary to leave the bottom leaves for support? My trees are leafless below three feet where it branches. All my grafts will be to the branches and not the main stem.

Charles, glad that one of your grafts took. Mine all died a miserable death. I think I'll stick to figs.

I got like 75% take with loquats using cleft graft on about 6 out of 8. Scion was about chopstick to pencil size. All were grafted in Feb. Made sure the cambium layers lined up. I also made sure they were tightly sealed with buddy tape. I am by no means a master grafter, these are my first successful with loquat.

I left most of the leaves intact and then took off all leaves except one, after the graft pushed. I just made sure the grafts were made on stems showing active growth.
