Grand finale - Here's the last fig I'll taste this year

Wife and I each had our last fig of the year, which was Preto.  It took some shuffling, but all 5 ripened this year.  Here are the last two.  Extremely delicious.  The video is unnecessary, but I was wanting to play around with my camera.  ;)

Good soundtrack. Where's the rest of the video? I wanna suffer!

You could have been playing The Doors-The End.   Did you get a GoPro?

Frank great fig
i have no more figs on my trees
i just wanted to dive in to my screan and grab one

Nice

I'm using a Contour HD camera.  It's a few years old, but works great on the road bike.

can you show us some pics/vids of the mothere tree

Really nice Frank, and nice delicious fig.

Frank, is the camera mounted on a head strap or did you have to wear your bike helmet?

Hi Frank I will check my garage today, there should be one or two Preto close to ripening. Skin is very hard this time of year on mine.

all my trees were from cuttings so i didnt let the fruit stay on bummer

Awesome finale Frank. Now I have to update my wish list after moderate pressure from mrs K. See what you've done? Lol. Thanks for sharing the moment!

PS. Wish list update: PRETO and PRONTO Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great finale, Frank. Thanks for sharing the video.

Frank

Very nice video and a gorgeous 'Figo Preto'.
When I think that together with others, it was (or, still is ?) going on the road to extinction ...

Greg,

It came with a headband mount, so I attached it to the band of the visor.

The skin was definitely tough.  You can tell as I try to split it in half, the knife struggles to make the cut.  Best believe I still ate the skin too.  ;)

Thank Francisco.  I hope to get a lot of growth in the next few years so I can help distribute this variety.  The little growth I had this year will be made into air layers next year, as I've set up some great trades with great members.

The skin on our Negronne was thickening as the season progressed. Our Battalgia continued to make fruit until the hard frost we had last week. The skin toughened up but less than our Negronne. The Red greek we have dropped brebas, grew a nice main crop during summer and approached dormancy without any fruit.

Picked 7 ripe Negronne's today and there's about 10 more close to ripeness hanging on there.
Kinda crazy to get ripe figs by mid november in the Netherlands but hey, you gotta love global warming!
