It's been one week since I applied Nosema locustae (Brand names Nolo Bait and Semaspore) to my yard. I am already seeing fewer smaller grasshoppers; and the large ones sit there like they are stoned. They just look at me as I pinch them off the plants. The protozoans, which affect only grasshoppers and crickets, are supposed to take full effect within two weeks and work for up to a year and a half. They are supposed to sicken the young grasshoppers and turn the rest into cannibals. That is what it looks like is happening. So far, I am a big fan of this product.
P.S. - Gardeners' Supply sells this product for around $20.
