great forum members

Yesterday I received 2 boxes of young figs. When I opened the first there was a CD -- the music the sender of the figs produces with his band. I loaded the CD and listened while unpacking my new varieties. New music and 24 new plants. What a pleasure it was.
With all the new nonsense about how the f4f forum has become less then it was 6 months ago I'd just like to remind folks that this forum has a very strong and trustworthy base of caring members. Members who have been here for a long time and have spent many hours helping others. Members like Herman who have been invaluable when it comes to IDing figs, for example. Actually it's hard to even start to list all the wonderful contributors that post on f4f.
But, again, I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me and wish everyone a warm winter. It's way too cold and snowy here today. I'm glad my little figs are all tucked in and warm with their larger kin.

Congrats on your 500th post :)

And I agree about all the wonderful members here.

100% agree.  Great people here.

Great thread Micheal.

Many giving and caring folks here.
We will bring back the true spirit of this forum. I will do my best to help.

Anthony,
Wow 500 posts. I did not realize I was so chatty. Hopefully at least some of my posts have been helpful.

Whoo Hooo 700 for me.  :)

Congrats on your package! May they grow well for you.
As for the members, I've had good luck with the people here and all the ones I've met have been extremely generous. I'm glad I joined and have no regrets. Nice group of people here.

Micheal,
I about 2500 posts ahead of you. Time for you to get going if you ae going to catch up to me.

I agree. Good thread Micheal.

Rafed. I extend my full support as well on that note.

Wow!  A CD?  Cool!  Raining here today.  Busy in my little fig infirmary, working on repairs to some of the babies...
Agreed!  Many great members here.  Majority!
Suzi

I agree with you Michael.

Geeez I thought I was getting up there at 500. Some of you guys have really been posting!
I'm just so tired of the f4f bashing. I hope my other post today is the last of it.
I love this forum!
Jon gave us this great place to talk without any need to bash GW or it's members.
Sorry, I'll stop.

I completely agree, Michael.  Great forum, generous and informative members, and Jon has done an outstanding job.  I have an entire greenhouse full of fig cuttings, and only paid for a handful due to the generosity of many members (you all know who you are!)  I am excited about being able to "pay it forward" as my figs grow.  And, I'll be looking for a manageable and attractive way to keep most in pots, since planting figs in the ground here in my area, means HUGE TREES, lol!  I have over an acre, but still not enough land to manage the number of varieties I'm trying to propagate, lol!  And, the cost of water here, being close to gold, is also a consideration.

Soon the fig season will begin and hopefully lots of pictures of fig plants and dark figs and those other ones as well  ; )

OK Martin,
This year I'll post a picture of a light colored fig even you'll have to admit is knockdown drag out gorgeous.
And that fig is called Blanche de Deux Saisons.

thx all - and btw -- if all the folks who ask that gifts be kept private were thanked on the forum it would just crowd out fig info. This place is a wonderful and generous forum.

Good for you Michael, I am happy you are happy. There are many well respected members here at the forum, I hope you continue to stay positive.

1000% agree...so much great information and sharing of experiences, techniques, answers to questions, gift cuttings, etc, etc.  I have so much to learn and this is a great place.  I appreciate all who have responded to emails with countless questions.  This is a great forum with even better members.

I will do my best to keep it going by paying it forward in years to come.

thx Jen. I want to talk figs --  but dang it -- what I really want to do is EAT figs.
I'm snowed in and the one Barnisotte fig I had in my grow room dropped off the plant yesterday. I had a fantasy that I was going to get to eat that fig. rats.

Rats?

Micheal,
We need to talk

Congratulations on your new treasures!

I am having the fig fever too. Trust me. That's why gobbled up all my Fig Jam from Bass and VS. Fresh fig.....yum

Good news Michael, snow is melting here in Idaho. I could hear the icicles dripping, the roads are turning to slush.

Jen I wish that were true here. I'm snowed/iced in for at least a couple days. My very last jar of fig preserves is going to be empty as I'm having it for breakfast. This year I think I'll finally have enough figs to learn to can them. But dang! As good as they are out of a jar I'm just craving a fresh one and wishing for the heat and light to return.
