So how did fluffy taste?

Hey Sue. Can you tell us anything about the type of air rifle your friend was using?

Thanks.

I don't know what that particular model is but I have a Gamo pellet rifle that came with a cheapo scope that works great. Since buying it, I've easily killed 4 groundhogs, all head shots. IIRC, it was under $150.

I was willing to give fluffy a try but his wife was a bit squeemish and sad they were killed...so I didn't push our friendship. Instead he put it at the end of the property hoping to attract Turkey Vultures...didn't happen.

I'll find out what airgun model he has...it's old as it was his grandfather's.

Sue were the bunnies doing any damage to your trees or other plants. They can inflict a lot of damage if let unchecked. I remember that evening you, Linda, and I sat on your patio sipping wine and watching the sun go down over the mountains. We must have counted a dozen of them running around in the yard. Those are very good eating.

That looks like a Benjamin air rifle, the kind that you pump up using the lever attached to the fore stock.

Hi Gene, Bill,

It is a pump-up air rifle. The pump is on the barrel (forestock) of the gun and not that easy to pump. If I get one I'm going to build some muscles! I've emailed Andy to ask the model. I hadn't bought one yet because I didn't know if it would really be effective but now I know and satisfying too. :-)

I was going to prep them for dinner but I was concerned about the Tularemia so I didn't this time: http://fohn.net/rabbit-pictures-facts/rabbit-diseases-tularemia-myxomatosis-calicivirus-disease.html.

These bunnies have devastated my flower garden. I've over 300 tall bearded iris and all are chewed to the rhizome. Most will probably rebound if left alone but some are into the rhizome and may be goners. They've destroyed the day lilies, and other perennials I planted this year. Between them, gophers, and ground squirrels, it's never ending. On top of that the darn snails are eating the bark off my young figs and something, opossum? raccoon? are eating my figs in addition to the bird pecks. I guess that's what I get for living in the wilderness. ;-)

Where's that air rifle...I see a bunny...

Sue

Gene, I think you're right. It looks exactly like my old Benjamin, although mine doesn't have a scope.

Yes it is a Benjamin. Here's the reply from Andy:

It's a 1961 "Benjamin Franklin" model 317:

I don't know what scope it has, but I believe it was mounted afterward. You
really need the scope, and the scope needs to be calibrated periodically to
keep the aim.

Benjamin Franklin was bought out by Sheridan, so they became Benjamin
Sheridan. Now, Crossman owns the line of air rifles:

They still sell Benjamin Sheridan air rifles.

Thanks for the info Sue.
