Here in Los Angeles there are a bunch of people who are growing a fig they call Celeste that has a green fruit with red inside. I got cuttings from the W.L.A. Rare Fruit Growers scion exchange where one very knowledgeable lady says it is her favorite flavored fig, so I thought I would try it. Finally got good fruit on it this year. The tree looks like it will grow very tall, quickly. The fruit is fairly large, green but a little toward yellow when fully ripe, has a medium to longish length neck, very red inside, very sweet but only when really, really ripe (the squirrels got most of them). To my tastebuds I would say it was kind of a berry flavor. The fruit ripened in August with a few left in early September.
Any ideas?
