Green Greek vs White Greek??

I was curious if there is any difference between these 2 varieties?? I saw pictures of a green greek on ebay that looked similar to those I've seen of white greek. Anyone with experience growing both??

Thanks,
Tyler

Green Greek and White Greek are different. at least White Greek jon has. the White Greek jon has looks more like Vasilika Sika.

White Greek is the one in the middle with darker red pulp.

Thanks Pete... is that Green Greek to the right of your White Greek?

no, i don't have Green Greek. the other green figs are Paradiso Gene.

They do look different Pete. These are the pics of the Green Greek I was referring to from ebay ad http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREEK-GREEN-Greek-Variety-2-Fresh-Cuttings-/121258049549?nma=true&si=nyBhC8cXH38cxy7oQSmyyp7oZVQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

That fig, the leaf especially, looks a little different than what people (most I think) in the U.S. call Green Greek. I found a fig locally that looks similar to it but it did not impress me when I sampled it, also I observed some problems with splitting, I don't grow it. http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1270044068&postcount=17

This thread deals with sorting out various light colored "greek" figs in the U.S. I have another unknown that seems to be the same as Green Greek/White Greek/Greek Vasilika and it tastes much better than the above.

The White Greek fruit in the center of the top pix, where it is shown with the green Greek,is in fact the Dalmatie fig with a different name.
The Fruits of Green Greek, are not enough dark inside to be Vasilika Sika, and the leaves are a little different.
Very possible a hybrid of Vasilika Sika.

Thanks for the info guys. Sometimes the more you read the more confusing it gets. So since I have Stella... which is similar or the same as Dalmatie which is similar or the same as white greek....... then i don't need white greek lol.

Tyler,
I have a Stella and I will be rooting the WG when it arrives from Jon. If everything goes well, I could compare the figs at some point and tell you how different they are.
I am not sure if that would be the same for you though since we have the wasps here and sometimes they make a noticeable difference.

Pete hi

The dark figs on the plate are ?

pyriform ones on the top were VdB. more rounder ones on the bottom were Kathleen's Black. 2012 was a good yr for VdB and Paradiso Gene. White Greek was its 2nd yr and first yr giving figs. it wasn't good. Kathleen's Black wasn't all that great either that yr. 1st yr giving figs. they were grainy.

one thing i remember of White Greek is its dark pulp. it's blood red. it's not bright red of CdDB.
