I'm with you, Frank. Even when conditions aren't optimal, Green Ischia ripens to very tasty infructescence.

Very nice Frank. Could you post a pic of your plant? Leaf and all. I have an unk that I'm trying to ID and suspecting GI.
I have white ischia and it is my favorite fig and i have 22 in ground fig trees. I bought it as green ischia.now i need the green & black to have the whole collection.
Frank,
Thanks for sharing. I live a bit south of AL...my brown turkey (4 years old) has had to regrow from the base 3 times...this last winter was not too bad, but splitting (frost dammage) in the trunk had me pruning it to the ground.
This year i plan to winter protect my figs with wire cages filled with mulch...might give them the girth they need to survive.
I have seen GI advertised for zone 8 and up , some places claim 7 and up...
At least you have some figs to show for your efforts...my bt has 20 figs that dont look like they will ripen in time
Looks nice Frank. Mine were good this year, not great. Like Cal's experience, mine were rather small and a bit leathery. Still a good fig. Every single one on my tree ripened. About 25 fruits.
Wow, if it doesn't dieback this winter it looks like your going to have a ton of brebas next year.
Cal, this is not a heavy breba producer. In fact, it is a unifera cultivar, mine produced one breba and I would say that was anomalous.
Wow, what a beauty Frank. Very healthy tree. The five lobed leaves do look a bit like mine but yours also has a lot of three and single lobed. My fig also has a very long stem. Let me know what you think. Thanks very much for the pics.
