I  have a green ischia live fig tree is is possible that even though I live in the south with hot summers that this tree can turn out ok?? I just bought it and  I would hate for it to have been a mistake. I figure if I just baby it a lot and watch it it should be ok!!! After all it is only in a pot..

Welcome lynnk77. Georgia is a great place to grow figs. Your main concern will be water during the drought period Georgia is known for and also some surprisingly cold weather that sneaks down every once in a while. I'm no expert, but I think your tree will be fine. You may read around on the forum to find other very suitable trees for your location. We have a few members here that are from Georgia and they may have the best answers for you.

I have a Green Ischia ,and a Bataglia Green, and both these cultivars are related, having fruits from both.
If your Green Ischia is healthy ,it will be a very good cultivar for Georgia.
The taste is excellent and is rain tolerant too.
Again a good choice to start a garden, and I am sure you will want more cultivars once you taste this one fruits.

I have one Green Ischia.  It is about one year old.  For my area, and in a container, it grew real fast.  Mine went from a tiny pint cutting full of roots to one 5 gallon container.  After one year, (this spring) I had to plant mine in the ground.  I had to water mine very regularly and it kept growing, dropped some leaves but no fruit yet.  I think next year it will fruit.

I had to water a lot this year.  Next year, I am installing a drip irrigation system.
