Green Ischia Question

Back in Jan 2015 I purchased a tissue cultured fig tree labeled as Ischia. The fig was describe as a green fig with red interior. Now in its third leaf it has produced it first figs. The tree grew true to form, short and bushy. The fruit however, was greenwith a pinkish yellow interior, not the red I was expecting. The fig was good, sweet in taste, perhaps a sevin out of ten. Could this interior coloring be due to being the first time fruiting and will the interior darken as the tree ages?Could the tree not be a Green Ischia at all and perhaps a White Ischia or a white Marseilles? My thanks in advance for any suggestion and opinions.

That's definitely white m

I've been posting on this mislabeling variety several time in the past three months, so for your info, here is one of the link

The leaves and the skin/flesh color of your tree looks exactly like mine...I do not know where you got yours, but mine is from Wallymart, labelled as Ischia with a pic on the tag which is for "Green Ischia".  I googled this and pretty sure that it is Ischia white, short of DNA test for confirmation...

Just enjoy the fruit and move on...it is not the end of the world, at least for me.

schang, yep the leaves and the fruit on mine looks exactly the same as on yours. I purchased mine as a tissue culture from saladbeard farms on eBay. I would be willing to bet the error was made before they got the tree. I agree it's a keeper.

Likely an Agristarts substitute for a tree that had too much FMV to deal with...mine came from Lowes on sale at end of season for around 5.77 (if memory serves correct)...it is a vigorous tree.

For those who just got one labled "Ischia", prune to one branch, feed well, and watch it take off.
