Hi there you all fig lovers.
Recently & 'apparently' a subtle fraud scheme was engineered by James W. Sperman (greenfin).

We (fig lovers), would like to have some indication to the extend of it all.
Sooo; please ONLY post here (on this thread) for any of the following question (and if you actually bought any figs from greenfin):
---------
* Question (A): WHAT 'PERCENTAGE' OF FIGS DID YOU ACTUALLY RECEIVE FROM THIS PERSON?    e.g., 0%, ... 25%, ... 75%, ... 100%.
* Question (b): optional; What was your first/start (approx) date of order(s).
* Question (c): optional; What was the overall (approx) $ value?
* Question (d): optional;  REFUND?: (? answer?  as Yes or NO and/or any short note/comment)
(only if applicable/& asked-for-refund;  pl. give some time-leeway (say 1 week)).
---------
Here is my own (SAMPLE) response/answer:
(A) 0%
(b) late 2015
(c) $ hundreds
(d) NO, I did not ask for a refund (yet).
---------
Note: if this is a true fraud scheme; this guy (a scam/con artist); at minimum he needs to be stopped from stealing more off other people's money!

Please DO NOT HIJACK this thread (e.g., by saying something stupid as how sweet your good Celeste fig tastes) etc..
If you need to say something more significant - Please open your own new thread or use my REF (url) below...
Any short comment(s) should be DIRECTLY related to any of above 4 questions.
Let's keep this thread short and simple (KISS) and to the (facts) subject.
OK (and best) to EDIT your own original one (1) post as you deem best for you as your time/facts progress (hopefully for the best).

My REF (the other BIG thread):
https://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/7-fig-trees-for-springsummer-delivery-around-150-varieties-7844910?trail=50

*** --> TALLY: Edited (early 4/25/17):
So far ~29 members have responded here (some privately); thanks.
Sadly, NOBODY has received ANY figs; aka., all answers to Question (A) were 0% ... [MAMMA MIA !?!]
Four received full or partial refund.

ALSO, this whole thread will be DELETED by me (owner) in a few mores days ....

C. Two Orders $91 and $138

I contacted Paypal and filed a dispute.  I mentioned that apparently no one had received their orders, some going back two years and that it is possible that this is a scam.  They indicated that they will be looking into this further because they do not want someone using Paypal to scam people.  I will let you know what I find out.

Of course not. I'm only suggesting that it seems the only way James will stop ignoring us is to pay him a personal, peaceful visit to see what's going on with our orders.

I ordered cuttings October 2016. Received nothing. Contacted seller before expiration time for refund. Seller offered a sob story.

I trusted him and waited for delivery. Now it is too late for Paypal refund.

Seven months is plenty of time to cut and mail six small sticks.

Cuttings are always mailed when dormant, meaning winter time. I feel like a chump.

The only evidence of this business are some photos on a web site.......Beware.

I am fuming!!! I will contact Paypal and request an inquiry and a refund for possible fraud.

Sorry to those who still have faith in Greenfin. I have made numerous attempts to contact him and have received NO response. I don't care how busy he is or what problems he might be having - when you take someone's money you owe them a response...even an excuse, but some type of communication is always helpful.

A) NONE
B) Late Fall, 2015 (rooted trees ) Subsequent order 2016
C) < $150
D) No refund requested yet.

I still have faith that James will eventually deliver.  For many crying "fraud" -- this is one reason WHY I am confident he will deliver -- this process has been going on over two years... making a promise to deliver a product (offered via a public forum) , taking funds from folks, etc. constitutes a simple contract. Taking funds for commitments that you knowingly cannot fulfill is fraud in many states.  Defrauding dozens (hundreds) of people in many different states (nations) utilizing internet forum(s) makes potential fraud both a Federal case, brings in the use of electronic communications to commit fraud, etc etc etc.  In fact, just my "case" if it should ever come to that would cross the threshold of felony fraud in my state, and, yes, folks from out of state can be legally prosecuted by our Attorney General if their fraud impacts citizens of Florida.

Did the man get in over his head? In my opinion, yes.  Is is communications with customers good? No, it is not ... which is not wise business practice.  Has fraud been committed? Not to my understanding.  If fraud is committed, will charges be pressed? Certainly.  Is this a serious matter that James is aware of? For his sake, I hope so....

B) July 2016
C) ~ $100.00 (REFUNDED)

  - I sent a change of address. James updated my order.
  - I wanted to change a variety in my order, and requested the update. James obliged with no questions and updated my order.
  - I finally did request a refund late this February. The money was back in my PayPal account the very next day.

The only reason I requested the refund was that I had just already gotten all the trees ordered while waiting. I feel no animosity toward James, and hope everything still works out for him and everyone who ordered cuttings and trees.

I don't personally know James and never communicated with him outside the figcuttings.com order. But he was a well respected and like member of this forum before his current business venture. He still has many friends here.

I also personally don't like the work "scam" so frequently thrown about recently. James set out in the beginning to do a very good thing for fig hobbyists. Did it get out of hand, and did he get in over his head with too many orders - Yes. Could he have handled his communications better - Definitely Yes. Should James have handled order limits better and stopped taking orders went he got too far behind - Absolutely. But I don't see bad business decisions and communications as a pre-meditated pre-planned scam or scheme.

Sorry if this is too many added comments for this thread.

Well @CliffH, in my opinion, your comments are some of the most sane and reasonable that I've seen in quite a while on this topic. So unlike the vitriolic, speculative and downright nasty comments that have become the norm unfortunately.

Thank you for posting.

Do not believe that it is your business "how many and how much".
And it is a big question why do you need such information.
We/fig lovers ? Funny...
