Greenhouse

I thought some of you in colder climates might like to see some actively growing figs.  I live in San Diego so I don't really need a head start but since I already had an orchid greenhouse I overwintered some figs inside.  In January and February it was not uncommon for the temperature to climb into the 90's in the afternoon. The photos were taken today and the brebas on the one plant are Texas Blue Giant.  I have one fig that has put on a foot of new growth already and it is only February.  By contrast the outdoor figs that I have in 15 gallons are just beginning to push new growth and form brebas.

I have extra cuttings of Panache if anyone wants them for postage or trade.
I also have a few cuttings from down the street of what may be Desert King.  The brebas are incredible.  It is the photo of the fig interior.  (also for postage or trade)

(rcantor, do you still want the cuttings I am holding for you?  I have sent you PM's and an email)

Is that a white sharpie you use on the outside of the pots to mark the cultivar?

Nice looking greenhouse, I wish I had one! Thanks for posting the pictures,

nice set up.... looks almost professional

For marking the outside of the pots I use a grease pencil.  You can usually find them at craft stores but I would call ahead or just order them online

It was 62 degrees in my unheated greenhouse/tunnel this morning. It is almost 80 now but outside it is only 32 degrees F. I have been hauling water three gallons at a time to my fig trees. They are leafless but the buds are beginning to swell. I am going to post my cuttings I recently bought on ebay. One is ready to transplant .

Linda

Looks great but how are you going to keep the bamboo from taking over?  See PMs.  I'm going to send you what I have but I'm good as far as cuttings go  :)

The bamboo is all clumping not running. The easiest way to control it is to just kick off the new shoots when they emerge where you don't want them. It stops the shoot and it never grows.

Remp I am interested in the Panache cutting and anything else you can mail me.

I will send the postage. Thanks. I will get some cuttings next month of battaglia verde.
I am not 100 percent sure but it has a strawberry flavor inside. What is postage cost ?
Thanks Alot. Armando

Armando, you have a PM.

Eric, did you get my messages?
Thanks,

Dennis, you have a PM.

Silver Sharpies work really well for black pots.
